Sunrise Smog

Rotorua, New Zealand

A sharp silhouette against a sky on fire. Geothermal mist rolls across the lake at Rotorua, softening the foreground while the dawn ignites above - pink, orange, deep blue. There is something almost gothic about this scene, a collision of the sacred and the volcanic, the ancient and the elemental. Sunrise Smog is New Zealand at its most dramatic and most mysterious.
